Unfortunately this is a pedestrian walkway and quite narrow in places. This path is used by pedestrians, so you have to push the bike.

Falkenstein Chapel and Healing Spring

Highlight • Religious Site

In the immediate vicinity of the chapel is another small house, in which the spa of the Falkenstein is located. Legend has it that St. Wolfgang had a convent brother as his companion, but the life of deprivation without drinking water was too hard. So Wolfgang stabbed his staff into the ground and, miraculously, a spring of fresh water opened at this very spot. Nevertheless, the monk left the bishop alone in the hermitage, but the source still exists today and the water has been known for many centuries to have healing powers. It should work wonders, especially for the eyes. From the 14th century, the Falkenstein was the fourth largest pilgrimage site in Europe. Every year, up to 80,000 pilgrims came here, filled the crystal-clear water into the so-called 'Wolfgang bottle' and took it home, where they kept it as a remedy. Still today, as one reads again and again, numerous blue and white shards in the soil around the source testify to this tradition.
