Hörnle Summit

Highlight • Summit

The Hörnle consists of three peaks: Vorderes Hörnle (1484 m), Mittleres Hörnle (1496 m), and Hinteres Hörnle (1548 m). The Hörnle is an attractive hiking destination that can be reached on foot or by cable car.

Despite their relatively low elevation, the three peaks of the Hörnle offer beautiful viewpoints of the Tannheimer Mountains, the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges, as well as the Alpine foothills with Lake Ammersee, Lake Starnberg, and Lake Staffelsee.

The Vorderes Hörnle (1484 m), Mittleres Hörnle (1496 m), and Hinteres Hörnle (1548 m) are each about a 30-minute walk from each other and are ideal for a circular hike with a stop at the Hörndlhütte in both summer and winter.

The Hörnlehütte was built in 1911 and is located at an altitude of 1,390 meters. In 1959 it was expanded with an annex with 24 beds. The Hörnlehütte can also be reached with the Hörnlebahn. There are delicious snacks and refreshing drinks here. The Kaiserschmarrn is particularly popular.

Hinteres Hörnle summit

Highlight • Summit

The Stierkopf (1533 m) and the Hintere Hörnle (1548 m) are the perfect destination for hikers who are cow fans or just animal lovers.

Both peaks are a pasture on which about 60 cows graze (many small groups), most of which are very tame and can be petted.

Other hikers who have nothing to do with animals can also hike up the mountains and enjoy the breathtaking panorama.
From here you can see the Staffelsee with the island “Wörth” (a “cow island”) and in good weather all the way to Lake Starnberg.

Beautiful view. From here you can see all three Hörnle peaks at once. It's worth the little detour. Not a difficult climb.
