Plym Valley Trail

Highlight • Trail

The Plym Valley Trail is a pretty stretch of the Devon Coast to Coast cycle ride. The traffic-free route runs through National Trust-owned woodland along the River Plym into Plymouth city centre. The trail leads past dramatic industrial ruins, towering cliff faces and across impressive viaducts. The route runs a total of 10 miles (16 km) from Dartmoor to Plymouth. The cycle path goes via the Cann Viaduct over the River Plym. On the viaduct you will find a viewing platform for peregrine falcons and in spring and early summer it is worth stopping here. Opposite the platform is an old quarry where Peregrine Falcons nest on ledges. A telescope is mounted here so that you can get a good look at the breeding birds.

Outside of these times, a break in your drive is still recommended to look out for other wildlife that call Plym Woods home, such as woodpeckers and ravens.

Highlight • Cycleway

First mile North has many dog walkers and children. Caution is needed as many forget it is a shared use path.
During summer months within first viaduct there is a Peregrine Falcon viewing platform manned by conservationist's that are keen to protect this beautiful bird of prey. Telescopes and binoculars enable one to see them nesting in adjacent cliff.
