The former farmstead and mill is now the control center of the Main-Danube Canal. The two-story steep-roofed buildings were constructed in the 18th century. In 1835, the then owner Meixner built a private chapel. Since 2017, the building has housed the "Erlebniswelt Wasserstraße" information and visitor center.

Directly on the Main-Danube Canal in Gösselthalmühle in Beilngries, visitors are provided with exciting information about the waterway, technology, shipping, and nature.

At interactive stations, visitors have the opportunity to learn about and discover topics related to shipping and the waterway. The permanent exhibition is aimed at everyone and is suitable for all age groups.

On the ground floor of the mill building, the Waterways and Shipping Administration is presented. You can listen to the radio traffic between an inland skipper and a lock keeper or understand the elevation differences that the Main-Danube Canal overcomes. The upper floor is dedicated to the topic of water and inland navigation. At listening stations, navigators, divers, dam inspectors, or civil engineers talk about their profession. Because the Gösselthalmühle is not just a museum, but also a command center for the Main-Danube Canal – from here, ship traffic and water levels are monitored.
