The windmill can be seen a long way and be oriented to it. Supposedly you can eat very well there, but unfortunately we had no time.

Blakeney Harbour

Highlight • River

A pretty village on the edge of the Norfolk Coast, Blakeney is well worth a visit. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the village was a commercial seaport. Nowadays the former harbour is used as a nature reserve where you can see one of the biggest seal populations in the UK. Blakeney has not always been the calm village it is today: from the 12th century, the village was known for pirates. Locals would often steal the cargo of foreign merchant ships who docked at the port. The villagers were so lawless that they even refused to give a ship to the battle against the Spanish Armada!

Today, you will find a relaxing tourist resort with hotels, pubs, great restaurants and various coastal activities.

Wells-next-the-Sea Harbour

Highlight • Settlement

Wells is one of the most attractive towns along the North Norfolk Coast. With a glorious sweeping beach, bordered by pine woodland, along the gentle harbour with small fishing boats, there is not a chain store in sight. Wells truly is an unspoiled seaside destination.

Wells-next-the-Sea Harbour

Highlight • Rest Area

A picturesque harbour in Wells-next-the-Sea, Wells Harbour has been a port for over 600 years. It served as an important maritime center from the Tudor era to the 19th century.
