Tromie Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

Tromie Bridge is an excellent example of an early 19th-century, single span rubble crossing. The original crossing here was built in 1728, but was reconstructed to its current form in 1832 and today is Grade B-listed. From the bridge are excellent views of the tumbling River Tromie, a tributary of the Spey.

Old cemetery at the bottom of the hill. Old gravestones can still be seen here and there, the text of which is largely illegible. The fence is jammed, but the cemetery can still be visited.

Nice view point mrt picnic area just a few minutes walk from the trail. There is a gentle breeze here in the relatively open area, which is extra nice on hot summer days with lots of midges.

Insh Marshes Nature Reserve

Highlight • Viewpoint

One of Europe's most important wetlands, Insh Marshes cover over 6 square miles (10 km) between Kingussie and Kincraig in the Cairngorms National Park. The site supports various breeding waders, such as curlew, lapwing, redshank and snipe. Much of the area is owned and managed by the RSPB and forms a national nature reserve.
