On the occasion of the 2017 Giro d'Italia passing through Selvino, the Velo Club Selvino wanted to name each hairpin bend of the legendary climb after a champion from Bergamo. The antepenultimate is dedicated to Paolo Savoldelli, "the Falcon of Clusone"; the penultimate is dedicated to Ivan Gotti, winner of two Tours of Italy and a native of San Pellegrino Terme. This, the first, is dedicated to Felice Gimondi, from Cedrina, one of the strongest Italian cyclists ever. Despite having had Eddy Merckx as a rival, Gimondi – nicknamed Nuvola Rossa – won three Giri d'Italia, one Tour de France, one Paris-Roubaix and two Giri di Lombardia, among others.
