Biniaraix

Highlight • Settlement

Nice place with narrow streets. In the center hardly parking.
Tourist not crowded, but there seems to be some cottages here. The rental cars in the driveways speak for it.

Old Washhouse of Biniaraix

Highlight • Structure

Old washhouse of Biniaraix. Starting point for the tour of the Barranc de Biniaraix and / or to the Cornador Gran.
One of the few parking spaces in front of it should not be expected.

Barranc de Biniaraix Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Barranc de Biniaraix (German gorge of Biniaraix) is a gorge in the municipality of the Serra de Tramuntana in the west of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca.

Story:
The old pilgrimage route that leads to the monastery of Lluc was documented in the 14th century.[3] However, it is likely that the path existed as a beaten path many years earlier. In the lower area there is another path, the Camí vell, which was used to avoid the high mountains of Mallorca.[4] Centuries ago, olive groves were planted in the gorge, reaching almost to the summit, where the two paths meander.[2]

View of Cúber Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The Cúber reservoir is the largest reservoir in Mallorca. It is at an altitude of 750 meters not far from Puig Major, the highest point on the island. Construction began in the 1960s. In 1972, together with Georg Blau a few kilometers to the north-east, the area on which there used to be a rural property was flooded. The reservoir was built between April 1970 and June 1971. In 2001, Cúber was declared a hunting ground.

The reservoir owes its name to an old property that existed before Muslim rule. After the conquest of Mallorca by King Jaume I, the district of Muntanyes was the part of the island that the king reserved for himself and divided among the participants in the conquest. The majority was awarded to the Prince of Portugal and his military. Included in this last group of lands was Cúber's property.
