Küssnacht Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

Beautiful old town of Küssnacht, with many very well preserved and well maintained old houses. Worth a visit. Many restaurants in small alleys invite you here.

Bone stomp, Küssnacht
The pounding of bones with the water wheel and the idyllic pond at the foot of the Gesslerburg.
In 1877 a shed was built at the foot of the Gesslerburg ruins. At that time, a meat leg grinder, a grater and a band saw were installed. The drive was provided by the overshot water wheel. The water was supplied from a pond above the stamp. The bone meal was a sought-after fertilizer. In the course of time there were several changes of hands. The building served as a wine and beverage store and later as a storage room for the water supply.
Today, a Küssnacht senior group is responsible for the professional execution of work and the operation of the bone crusher. In 1996 the water supply was rebuilt. In 1998 the replica of the bone pounder took place. The water wheel was renewed in 2015 and presented prominently and with great pride at the Küssnacht trade exhibition.

Llamas at the Canton Border

Highlight • Viewpoint

With a bit of luck, you will see alpacas and, with a high probability, cows enjoying the magnificent view of Mount Pilatus, the Küssnacht Bay of Lake Lucerne and Küssnacht.

In mid-late March there is a huge and loud frog concert in this pond 🐸 🎶. I've never seen so many common frogs in one place.

Hotel-Restaurant Rigi-Seebodenalp

Highlight • Restaurant

The Hotel-Restaurant Rigi-Seebodenalp offers a sensational panorama over the
Swiss Mittelland. After a strenuous mountain tour, something to eat and the Rigi-Gold beer are highly recommended. The popular "Rigi-Gold" mountain beer is brewed in the Hotel Seebodenalp itself. The beer is made from clear spring water from the Rigi.

Taking the train to the Seebodenalp really makes sense .., On certain days, the snake needs to go up because of the oncoming more than 1:15 hours ... even painfully experienced ...

Mountain station of the cable car that connects Küssnacht with Seebodenalp.

The first cable car was inaugurated on August 7, 1954, and to this day the trip to the nearby nature reserve is very popular not only with the people of Küssnacht, but also with many guests from near and far. The beautiful view over Lake Lucerne with a view of Pilatus and Lake Zug also delights regular guests time and time again.
