Palafavera

Highlight • Settlement

The Palafavera Refuge is located in the eponymous village in the municipality of Val di Zoldo, along the SP 251 provincial road, at the foot of the slopes of the Ski Civetta area. With a simple mountain atmosphere, it offers double, twin, triple, and one quadruple room. All rooms have private bathrooms, some have balconies, others overlook the slopes. The facility includes a restaurant, bar, and panoramic terrace, as well as ski storage and rental. In the summer, it is a strategic location for excursions to Mount Pelmo or Mount Civetta.

Adolfo Sonino Mountain Hut at Coldai

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Sonnino al Coldai refuge, belonging to the CAI section of Venice, is located at the northern end of the grandiose Civetta group, at the head of the steep Val de le Ziolere. Its construction dates back to 1905, with renovation works that were carried out in the early 1930s, thanks to funding provided by the family of the late mountaineer Adolfo Sonino.

The climb, rather simple and equally popular, offers splendid views of the Val Zoldana and a privileged observation point of Monte Pelmo, but also of the equally imposing silhouettes of Cristallo and Antelao or the jagged profile of Croda da Lago.

A visit to the nearby Coldai lake cannot be missed.

The Ferrata degli Alleghesi is a grand itinerary that allows you to reach the summit of Monte Civetta, at an altitude of 3,220 m. It is considered one of the most beautiful via ferratas in the Dolomites (if not for the stunning views it offers of Moiazza, Marmolada, Tofane, Pelmo), but also one of the most challenging. Not so much for the technical difficulties, but for the length and physical effort it requires. The route, which first develops on the eastern slope, reaches the northeast ridge which is traversed to the summit. Its construction, at the time, required enormous work, started in 1949 and only finished in 1966.

Lake Coldai

Highlight • Lake

Lake Coldai is an alpine lake of glacial origin located at an altitude of 2,143 meters, surrounded by majestic rock walls and meadows full of flowers typical of this environment. It owes its green color to the mineral mixture that characterizes its waters. It has natural origins and is fed annually by the melting of snow deposits deposited in winter.

The unique color, the wonderful mountain landscapes, the imposing walls of Mount Civetta make the lake a unique and very fascinating place, a popular excursion destination for thousands of visitors every year.

OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED.
