Sprotte Adventure Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Nice bike path through beautiful countryside, little to no other cyclists. A small piece of road does not spoil the enjoyment. Attention, do not miss a turn to the right over a small wooden bridge at the Lohmamühle, otherwise you will be right in front of the old mill. But this one is also worth seeing and a bit mysterious.. ;)

Thousand-Year-Old Oak of Nöbdenitz

Highlight • Natural Monument

about 700 years old oak, in which there is actually a grave, namely the deceased from 1824 manor Hans Wilhelm von Thümmel. Otherwise, with age, again and again exaggerated (as with almost all "1000-year-old" trees.

Nischwitz Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The Nischwitz and Großpillingsdorf parish currently has 145 members. Originally, the Nischwitz parish included two other parishes, Jonaswalde and Heukewalde, and in the 1990s the parishes of Haselbach and Rückersdorf were added. On November 15, 2006, the Nischwitz parish was dissolved. The parish of Nischwitz with Großpillingsdorf, Jonaswalde and Heukewalde were handed over to the parish in Thonhausen, the parishes of Rückersdorf and Haselbach were handed over to the parish of Linda.

In 1880, the high, widely visible Nischwitz village church was built in the arched style after the old church developed cracks and became dilapidated. 100 years later the roofs of the tower and the ship were replaced. In 1991, window and door repairs and plumbing work were carried out. In 1998 and 1999 the interior of the church was lovingly restored. The original painting, which was based on the designs of Pastor Dr. Heinrich Bergner from 1908 was created and restored with impressive skill by the restorer Herbert Kretschmer from Gauern and Rudolf Köhler. However, the extensive restoration would not have been possible without the generous donations of the people of Nischwitz and Großpillingsdorf.

Just a few years later, an urgent general renovation of the Nischwitz Poppe organ became necessary. In addition to donations from parishioners, state funding as well as lottery money and financial resources from annual benefit concerts could also be used.

Even today, the Nischwitz Church experiences many highlights during the church year such as baptisms, confirmations, weddings, Thanksgiving services and family services. The performances of the gospel choir from Gößnitz, the accordion orchestra from Zwickau and the hunting horn players from Gera ensured a lively Christian life and musical events in the village church.

Koberbach Dam

Highlight • Lake

With a lake house and a beer garden right on the water, the physical well-being is taken care of here.
The pre-block a little further north is better for simple breaks, there is a snack bar.

I decided to go for a late ride on my road bike today. I was rewarded with perfect weather—no wind and even a bit of sunshine.
