Kuppritzer Wasser Forest Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The path runs between the eastern outskirts of Kuppritz and the B6. There is a continuation at the B6, so you don't have to walk on the main road. Part of the path accompanies the Kuppritz water, which can develop very naturally here.

Kuppritzer Park

Highlight • Natural

Here the Kuppritz water meanders through a densely wooded valley, actually a well-behaved, inconspicuous brook. In 1937/38 the then manor owner Hans von Loeben, who studied forestry in Tharandt near Dresden, had the shady stream meadows carefully planted with native and foreign woody plants. After the creation of the park, when visiting Kuppritz it was customary to bring a tree sapling for the park instead of a gift. Even today, lush rhododendrons in particular bloom here every summer and invite you to linger.
Unfortunately, there have been several floods in recent years. Within a few minutes the brook swelled into a raging current and devastated the wonderful landscape park. The community of Hochkirch is doing its best to win back the gem with money and skill.

Niethen Fortified Settlement

Highlight • Historical Site

The small village of Niethen can be traced back to a fire clearance before 1424. The Niethener Schanze is particularly well-known as one of the best-preserved Slavic ramparts in Upper Lusatia, whose basin is 120 m long and 80 m wide. The rocky valley slope of the Kuppritz water protects the ski jump to the west, while a section wall rises up to 13 m in height to the east.

Memorial to Malta Therese Farack

Commemorates the murder of 13-year-old Therese in 1886. The spelling on the memorial stone is interesting. ( That, Good Friday )
