Rocky track to Hayeswater

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Good route to access High Street from Hartsop. Note very rocky and steep (up to 23%) in places. I had to push up various sections, but the view are great.

The ascent is steep, but good to walk and already the tour is very promising. Until Hayeswater you go along a thunderous river.

The Knott

Highlight (Segment) • Summit

If you're riding here from Hartsop you'll have just negotiated the (at times) 17% climb that precedes your attempt up the face of the Knott. This is preposterously steep, and …

Highlight • Natural

A great view of the Helvellyn range, not visited regularly due to the marshy conditions from Arthurs Pike direction. Often full of dragonflies on warm, light wind days.

Probably the best way of getting from Howtown to Patterdale, nice climb up out of Howtown, a short steep section of bike carrying but then a killer down hill to brotherswater or patterdale

View over Ullswater

Highlight • Viewpoint

From here you get a beautiful view looking north over the picturesque waters of Ullswater. The area is surrounded by dramatic fells and the lake is often considered one of the most scenic in the UK.

Boredale Valley

Highlight (Segment) • Natural

Beautiful Dale, but there is a some steep stuff at the head requiring some carrying and pushing. But worth it for what comes later.
