Magnificent circular hike. Bus 113 from Funchal. Stop at Levada do Caniçal just before the tunnel.
Duration with breaks: 5.5 hours
Varied landscapes and trails
Above the cliffs with views of Machico and Punta Sao Lourenço.
Not suitable for casual walkers.
Some steep climbs and descents.
Good shoes and walking poles are helpful.

Very nice round tour with wonderful views in the coastal section :-)
Definitely go when it's dry! Ascent and descent are sometimes very steep and can be uncomfortably slippery when wet. As always: sure-footed and free from giddiness is a prerequisite.
