Started in Ponta Delgada which I absolutely do not recommend! You walk exclusively along the road for the first (and last 6.5 km = 13 km). Yes - with a view of the Atlantic "deep down". But hiking uphill on a car road (with a sidewalk after all) is not recommended!!! You are at the airport on the other side. …
