Capo Ferrato Coastal Loop

Highlight • Trail

Starting point // The hike begins on the gravel road with the sign for Santa Suia or the sign for Spiaggia Caletta. You can park your car at the edge of the gravel road or directly on the roadside.

Marking // First, there are wooden signposts to the lighthouse, then the path continues along a well-trodden path that you can't miss. Only at the end, back over the hill, is the path not always obvious, and it's advisable to walk with a bit of a sense of direction.

Hiking guide // We used the Rother hiking guide for Sardinia for this hike. The hike is number 70 in the book.

Cala de Portu s'Ilixi

Highlight • Beach

Even if there is hustle and bustle and bathing fun on Costa Rei in the summer months, it is lonely and deserted at the northern tip of the long sandy bay. The old lighthouse on the approximately 50 meter high Capo Ferrato has been sending out its warning signals since 1925 - otherwise there is nothing here but peace, seclusion and great views of the Costa Rei and the Lagoon Lakes of Feraxi. If you want to save your car, you can come with hiking boots, mountain bikes or Nordic walking sticks, because the access road is bumpy and rocky.

Last panoramic hike from Monte Ferru to Capo Ferrato with a long swim break. 🫠

A beautiful, varied, and challenging hike. The ascent and descent require concentration, as not only does the alpine terrain require every step to be taken safely, but also the numerous plants that can catch your feet. If you don't like itchy legs, you should wear long pants. There are paths ranging from very narrow to very wide. If you need …

Great hike with fantastic, deserted beaches and wild animals 🦋🐢. At the end there was another crisp mountain 😎👍🏼

Unfortunately, I did not record the first stretch from the parking lot to the ascent. As a result, approx. 1 km is missing here. The tour is definitely worth it. It shouldn't be too hot, we started at 27 degrees, with headgear / sunscreen and lots of water highly recommended at these temperatures.

After a boring climb up the mountain, the tour still had something to offer due to the coastal section.
However, it is not unique, so in my opinion a detour to Costa Rei wasn't worth it.
