View of the Schwarzenbach Dam

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Schwarzenbach Dam is the most important structure of the Rudolf Fettweis Pumped Storage Power Plant. Completed in 1926, the dam collects water on the eastern slope of the rain-rich main ridge of the northern Black Forest. Water from the Murg River is also pumped into the reservoir, as the facility serves to balance the energy supply. The gravity dam is 400 meters long and 65 meters high. The lake is over two kilometers long.

February 22, 2025,Badener Höhe x Forbach
With today's mild temperatures, the hiking feeling is completely different to that of the last few weeks. Finally, no more cold hands. Even the thermos flask stayed at home. Instead, a brisk, demanding hike with EKS in the Nature Friends House.
