Wies Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

The Wies Chapel is located directly at the entrance to the Wies Church. The small chapel naturally leads a shadowy existence next to the famous Wies Church. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look inside.

September 9, 2021,Von der Wieskirche nach Steingaden - zurück über den "Brettleweg" durchs Moor zur Wies 🥾⛪🌳😊🌞😎
After visiting the Wieskirche, on a somewhat secluded forest path, past idyllic moor ponds, to Steingaden. Back it went past the Schlögelmühle, on a beautiful, shady path along the Neuhausbach and Haarckbach up to the "Brettleweg", which leads through the moor and ends shortly before Wies.
By downloading the pictures again, they are a bit mixed up, I just discovered.

A spring hike couldn't be much more beautiful. There were a few icy patches in the forest on the way back. The unmarked path via the Eulenweiher pond is highly recommended. Since there are often glitches when recording (with Komoot), I recorded the total time including breaks today.

There were 35 people on this hike today. Our tour started at the church in Steingaden. Via Litzau and the Wies Adult Education Center we followed the narrow path to the Wieskirche. After the Oktoberfest, we had lunch at the Moser Inn. Some people struggled with the large portions and took half home with them as a second meal. We …

Parking in Steingaden at the town hall. When you stand in front of the monastery shop on the right down the street at a wood processing plant, the blue 114 starts there. We hiked clockwise. But back: the Guelph Minster is a church built by the Guelph family. I found a small chapel at the beginning of the site particularly …

February 6, 2022,übern Brettlweg zur Wies
Crossing the Brettlweg when it's snowing might not be the best idea - because if you miss it, you'll get wet.

From Steingaden always follow the 114 hiking trail.

Even though the freezing cold wind drove all available clouds over us, it was a nice Sunday pilgrimage.

Today I drove to Steingaden and saw the Wieskirche. Inside it is very sumptuously furnished. Then I went on the Brettleweg over the Wiesfilz (Moor) or along the Haareck-/Neuhausbach to Steingaden. There I looked at the Welfenmünster, the monastery garden and the market square. Then I went back to the Wieskirche on the Höhenweg via Litzau. There you had a …

Very warm day for hiking. A television team (Katholisch TV) and radio team (Radio Horeb) is on and in the Wies. The Brettelweg leads about 400m through a moor. Hiking sticks would not have been bad, since you have to balance a little on the narrow boards. The best way to cool off is in the forest. On the way …

There is a relatively large and free car park at the Welfenmünster (cemetery side/Kissinger Straße). The circular route starts from there.
At first we didn't know exactly where to go because it wasn't clearly marked, but instinctively we found it on the other side of the Welfenmünster.
The hike was very varied, but I found the route from the Wieskirche …
