The view into the valley makes one's knees wobble. In the distance you can see the Mono Lake with a clear view.

13.5 km

From Lee Vining Creek Canyon Overlook the deep canyon can be appreciated, and the precarious section of Tioga Pass Road clinging to the rockslide on the side of the canyon ahead. The rock and snow sliding over this section are typically the last part the snow ploughs are waiting to melt, as they hesitate to destroy their machinery biting into too many rocks.

Even in summer you can see here the white gold of winter.

Tioga Pass Road

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

The climb is relentless, the views are breathtaking, and the memories will last a lifetime. Heading west from Lee Vining towards Yosemite via Tioga Pass is not for the faint of heart. However the rewards are more than worth it, as this is one of the quintessential rides in all of California. Two things to keep in mind:

1) due to elevation this road is closed from the first snowfall until June or even July some years.

2) The NPS allows bike only traffic for a couple of days each year before the road opens to all traffic once the snow has been cleared.
