Volkach Town Hall

The former administrative buildings are spread throughout the old town. Only the town hall at the front of the market square is still used by the city administration today. A town hall in Volkach has been documented since 1484, but it did not exist on the current site. Construction of the current building began in 1544. The town hall has undergone several renovations, including the addition of a double staircase in 1610. The architecture is influenced by the Renaissance. The town hall has three floors and a steep gable roof. A double flight of open staircase is above the pointed arched gateway. A half-timbered bay window crowns the building. At the rear, there is a stair tower. A major renovation in 1972 transformed the building and adapted it to the needs of the administration.
