Beech Avenue in Doverner Bruch

Highlight (Segment) • Forest

This beech avenue leads through a forest from Doveren in a northeasterly direction to Kühler Hof. The trees have a diameter of around 140-150 cm. The origins of the avenue are unclear. It is proposed as a protected landscape component.
As a persistent relic, it is representative of a widespread type of path with an exposed location in the forest from the 18th to 19th centuries and is therefore of great cultural and historical importance.

St. Dionysius Church, Doveren

Highlight • Religious Site

The baroque brick hall with a polygonal choir was built in 1771. The late medieval west tower with four floors is featured in the building. It was built in the 15th and 16th centuries from quarry stone and crowned with an eight-sided slate hood. In the east wall of the tower, remains of masonry with Roman flat bricks from a previous building from around 900 have been preserved. A flat wooden barrel ceiling was installed in the interior. The church was badly damaged during World War II and was rebuilt in 1949.
The building stands in a churchyard surrounded by a brick wall, where there is a war cemetery.
