Gret-Schell Fountain

Greth Schell Fountain, Zug
Greth Schell Fountain: The fountain, built in 1887, is located opposite the entrance to the Chapel of Our Lady in the lower old town. The sculpture was added in 1997 and shows Mrs. Greth Schell in a crouched position, carrying her drunken husband home. The man is wearing a fool's cap and a rod.

Kolinbrunnen, Kolinplatz, Zug
Kolinbrunnen: In 1540, the city council had a fountain built under the name "Unter der Linden". "Unter der Linden" was the name of the square that was being built at the time with the construction of the Ochsen Inn and the Fridlinhaus, the former town hall. In the oldest view of the city from 1547, two trees can actually be seen at this point, perhaps the aforementioned linden trees. The square kept its name until the 19th century. The names "Kolinplatz" and "Kolinbrunnen" only slowly became common in the second half of the 19th century. Nobody knows exactly who this figure on the fountain represents. In 1688, at any rate, the city council simply referred to it as the man standing on the Linden fountain whose flag the builder had to repair. However, it is not entirely impossible that the figure is a representative of the Kolin family, as popular tradition has it. Until 1798, a Kolin always held the honorary office of standard bearer.

Zytturm

Highlight • Monument

Zytturm, Kolinplatz, Zug
Zug's 40-meter-high landmark shapes the historic part of the city. The tower's origins date back to a shell tower from the 13th century.
Hans Felder increased it from 1478 to 1480. The tower received its current form with the steep hipped roof and the small wind watcher's cubicle above the roofs of Zug in 1557.
Two "Timpis" (dungeons) for delinquents deserve due attention.
