Tree-lined Road of Serra de Montejunto

Highlight • Trail

Road that connects the village of Abrigada to the Serra de Montejunto, crossing one of the most beautiful sections of the Serra de Montejunto.

A steep route but worth the effort.

Montejunto Swing

Highlight • Structure

Initially, @baloicodomontejunto was designed based on drawings by two children, Luana and Isaac, and their father took care of making it real.

After some photos of the children riding the swing were shared, the feedback from friends and acquaintances was enormous and that was when the idea of "improving" the swing as baloiçodomontejunto and making it public came about.

"Unintentionally, a tourist attraction was created that hundreds of families experience every week." Rafael Gregório

Moinho de Avis

Highlight • Monument

Magnificently located in the Serra do Montejunto, famous for having the largest concentration of windmills in the Iberian Peninsula, Moinho de Avis is an absolutely unmissable windmill that dates back to 1810.

This typical windmill, with its clay pots set with sails, is located next to the Curral do Burro restaurant, providing the flour that is then used to make fresh bread, from the rare Barbela wheat.

Miguel Nobre, a carpenter by profession, is also a huge millology enthusiast and was responsible for the restoration of the Avis Mill in 2008. Restoring mills quickly became a full-time job.

Moinho de Avis is the largest windmill in Portugal.

Usually this is a windy place, but the view is superb.
A part of the trail that passes through this point is a bit technical with some loose rock, it may not be very recommended for gravel bikes with thin tires.

Chapel of Saint George

Highlight • Religious Site

A few kilometers from the town of Labrugeira, municipality of Alenquer, in a deserted place stands the chapel of São Jorge, whose image of the patron saint belongs to the 17th/18th centuries. Every year, in August, a candle comes here from Labrugeira.
The interior of the chapel cannot be visited.
