Abandoned Stone Factory

Highlight • Structure

Or whatever you want to call it. It's barely visible because it's hidden behind tall trees.

Grammeno Village

Highlight • Settlement

The name of the village means "written," at least in modern Greek. The village square is quite beautiful, as you can see from the pictures, and there are some lovely houses there as well. I drove through the village by chance because I had planned the route incorrectly.

St. Paul's Church (Sismoplikta)

Highlight • Religious Site

It stands there magnificently, in the middle of Sismoplikta. The area was once a suburb commissioned by the junta after an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale almost destroyed the village of Krapsi and caused great damage in other villages such as Peristeri, Little and Big Gotista and Anatoliki. Since many people lost their homes on May 1, 1967, the junta felt obliged to help the victims and built this settlement. For decades, the settlement had a village-like character, with low buildings, mostly at ground level, but gradually the houses were either demolished and replaced by higher ones, or buildings were built on the flat roof.
The church was added much later and stands in the middle of the village. If you are in the area at Easter, you shouldn't miss the procession.
