Stechow Village Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Nice place for a break on the FONTANE.RAD route. The church is good for a contemplative break, and at the bakery across the street, the physical well-being is not neglected. And then you have to make a decision: You can follow the main route of the Fontane cycle path (left), or turn right, treat yourself to a cooling off in Ferchesar Lake and then cycle to the center of the optical industry in Rathenow.

Ferchesar Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The church in the small village of Ferchesar ... was built in 1735. The baroque half-timbered church stands in the middle of the village ... Today's tower is adorned with a double onion roof with a double lantern.
The church houses a wooden empire pulpit altar in the plastered interior with a horseshoe gallery under which the winter church is located. It was created in 1788. New gilding was installed in 1998. A special treasure of the church can be found on the wall to the left of the altar: a carved altar from the late 15th century. The presence of two altars is surprising for the visitors. The wooden goblet-shaped baptism is also interesting. A pear tree christening, painted white, with a late Gothic copper baptismal font.
In 1969 the southern cross arm of the church had to be removed due to severe structural damage, and the ruler's box, which even had a fireplace, was lost. But the church is still surrounded by 80-year-old linden trees, which followed the mulberry trees from the times of the Prussian kings. Today, a computer-controlled bell in the idyllic Ferchesar calls for services and concerts. After the exterior renovation of the church, the building shines in new splendor. The interior renovation will take place in 2018.
