The worm was renatured at Geilenkirchen and now offers domestic animals a habitat again. The animals can also be observed during a break on the bench.

Wurm River

Highlight • River

The Wurm is said to have got its name from the Celts who settled in the Aachen Basin. It is explained as a derivation of the word warm, which refers to the thermal springs from which the Wurm is partly fed (see also the derivation of the town name of Würselen). However, there is no conclusive evidence for this derivation.
Another possible explanation is an Old European formation with an m suffix to Indo-European *uer-, *our- with the meaning “water, rain, river”.

May 22, 2022,🚴‍♂️ Immer schön an der Wurm entlang 🌤️👍
A beautiful area that you would not have expected at this point.
What makes the tour stand out is that more than 90% of it is on well-drivable ground and that there is always a café in the right place, e.g. B. at the big roundabout in Geilenkirchen or the Beecker farmers & narrative coffee.

Nice route. Part of the passage along the Wurm is closed for works but the deviation is well indicated.

Just followed the tour. Nice route. 👍🏻👍🏻

Because it's a beautiful and easy tour, I cycled it again today on my e-bike in wonderful weather. Always beautiful.

Showing Translation

A quick get some fresh air along country paths and the Wurm.

Showing Translation

Repeat round in great weather, but with a fresh wind over field and cycle paths.

Showing Translation

A very nice round through the field and through small cozy villages. Halfway through the tour is the Nirmer Lädchen. The pictures say it all. Very lovingly furnished cottage with the necessary wit and everything your heart desires. Small playground with bouncy castle for children. The corn maze is not far away on foot. In fact, it's not that easy …
