Observation station at the Wieseckaue biotope

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great "second-hand" biotope - located directly on the shore path through the Lahnauen!
Above all, numerous birds can be observed around the artificially created shallow water ponds 👌😀

Actually, there would have been no need for new highlights. The bridge has merely been renovated from the ground up and the road surface renewed.

This is the only bicycle-friendly Lahn crossing between the northern Lollar (where the cycle path simply ends at the end of the bridge) and the cycle path from Wismar to Gießen, on the edge of the busy "Wißmarer Weg" (3km downstream, at the level of the Launsbacher Lakes).

Maybe some of you are interested in her story:
The former railway bridge was originally part of the “Cannon Railway”. This was built before the founding of the German Empire, bypassing the city of Giessen (as it did not belong to Prussia) as a rail connection from Berlin to the west. The name said it all. It was actually about ensuring state-owned military logistics. Wetzlar was a junction of the cannon railway. The Lollar - Wetzlar section was officially opened on October 15, 1878.
The Kanonenbahn branched off to the west onto its own route in Lollar and met the Lahntalbahn in Wetzlar, on which it continued west.

On the narrow path to Badenburg, there is a tree across from the Wieseck ski and canoe club. The bike has to be pushed through at the bottom and is a bit cumbersome for older people.

So the tour was classified as easy... this increase felt like a 10% incline @da.... I barely escaped a heart attack!
Don't the meters in altitude or the incline count?

the route goes a lot along the water. Unfortunately, it is not well signposted. So better use the GPS ;-)
Badenburg is an absolute recommendation - make sure to visit the gastronomy. Very quaint and the menu is a hit.....castle bones!!!!
