The Cascade Waterfall, Windsor Great Park

Highlight • Waterfall

A short stroll from the Pavillion, the Cascade is a 30-foot (9 m) waterfall. Created in 1789, its presence relies on a decent amount of rain and it’s at its most impressive after prolonged, heavy rainfall.

Just a little bit further along the trail are the Leptis Magna Ruins, which were built from masonry recovered from an ancient Roman city that existed in what is today Libya.

The Valley Gardens, Windsor Great Park

Virginia Water is a beautiful, artificial lake in the southern end of Windsor Great Park. A loop of the lake is a lovely way to spend a few hours and there are a few interesting landmarks to discover.

Chief among them are the ruins of Leptis Magna, once a vibrant city in modern day Libya. The ruins were gifted to George IV in 1816 and reconstructed on this site. Another regal gift is the Totem Pole, which was given to Queen Elizabeth II by Canada in 1958.

Our visitors love to wander through the remarkable maze of twisting woodland tracks and exotic scented blooms.

Every season offers collections that will surprise and delight even the most seasoned of horticulturists all year round, including National Collections of Magnolia, Rhododendron Species and Glenn Dale Azaleas, as well as Himalayan and Chinese Birches.

The Long Walk and the Copper Horse Statue with View of Windsor Castle

A huge Copper Horse statue at one end of the Long Walk which leads all the way down to Windsor Castle at the other. You can often see large numbers of deer in the nearby Deer Park.
