Through the centre of Kendal town, this section of National Cycle Route 6 is a shared use path alongside the River Kent.

Enjoy this traffic-free path to navigate through the heart of Kendal next to the water and between the beautiful old stone bridges.

Handsome Brewery

Highlight • Pub

Limited opening hours for this great craft brewery but always worth it if you time it right. The Tap bar opens at 5pm on a Friday and 3pm on a Saturday and Sunday. Beer can be bought anytime after 11am if someone is at the brewery.

Really welcoming place for cyclists and the brewery is building a huge car park for 2019 so you can park here, do a great ride and end with one of the most handsome beers you’ll enjoy anywhere.

This is where the NCN leaves the A road and follows the lovely gentle lanes into Kendal. There’s a bench to enjoy the views and have snacks.

Wheelbase Bike Shop & Café

Highlight • Cafe

Great shop. Lots of bikes. Also there is a toilet for customers inside the shop and a tap at the back for washing bikes. All they ask for is a donation to the local MRT. You can pick up a short hose with spray gun from the shop. They are open 09:00-17:30 Monday-Saturday and 10:00-16:00 Sunday.
