Coal Railway Trail

Highlight • Cycleway

The old railway line branches off behind Scher towards Hasslinghausen and Gevelsberg. It is not entirely paved, but easily passable.

Elbschetalbahntrasse Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The next four kilometers of the railway track route were released in August 2017. Very nice: paved from the beginning with design features such as gabions with a cyan-glass layer inside. The northern water-bound section next to the existing Ruhr Valley railway line is already a bit older and serves as a flood bypass of the Ruhr cycle path. Unfortunately, the southern section to Gevelsberg with the Silscheder Tunnel is still to come.

Harkortsee Railway Viaduct

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

Great corner on Hakortsee. And the viaduct is worth at least 1 photo. You can also take a break in Herdecke.

Great view of the Ruhr Viaduct in Herdecke. With a length of 313 m and 12 semi-circular arches of 20 m each, the viaduct spans the valley.

Ruhr Viaduct at Harkort Lake

Highlight • Bridge

The bridge is a great photo opportunity. You feel like you've gone back in time. If a steam locomotive were to roll over it, the time jump would be perfect. ;)

Very nice tour. The route also leads past the brand new beach bar at Hengsteysee. The Lennetal cycle path is currently being rebuilt. Therefore, there are no rest areas yet.

First ride with a new drive: new battery, cassette, motor pinion and chain.
Confirms my decision to ride the bike until the motor gives up.
We took familiar paths via Garenfeld to the Ruhr Valley cycle path and down to Wengern.
From there, the Elbschetalweg up to Albringhausen.

Compulsory bike break ended and started directly from the workshop I trust... nice on Ennepe and Ruhr... and in Herdecke there's even coffee that's roasted in Radevormwald.☕🚴‍♂️

This time recorded with Garmin Marq Athlete. Problems with Komoot again. I think I'll always use the Garmin for recording now.

Work is currently underway on the almost three kilometers between the Gevelsberg West S-Bahn station and Im Hedstück street in Silschede. The route represents the early third of three construction phases. After that, the second section, which …
