Having driven past it on the autobahn more than 100 times, I finally wanted to visit the three equals myself. The walls of the castle and the castle Mühlburg can be explored for a small fee. From both bergfrieds you have a beautiful view of the wide Thuringian countryside. It was Monday, so the Wachsenburg is closed - I was …

At this time of year, a visit to the March snowdrops below the Mühlburg is a highlight. This was the first time we did the walk around the Gleichen Castle. There were also many March snowdrops on the castle hill there.
All in all, a lovely walk with new views of the 3 Gleichen mountains every time.

Beautiful paths, interesting information panels about local attractions, places to rest, birdwatching opportunities, wildflowers in the forest, and ever-changing views of the castles.

What more could you want?

😊👍 Perhaps Freudenthal is open again—not today, but at least it's being cultivated again after years.

Very varied landscape. It is also very interesting geologically. You are in one of the 15 national Geoparks in Germany. The Freudenthal hiking car park is a recommended starting point. From mid-March, the Adonis roses begin to bloom at the foot of the castle. In Mühlberg you can eat ice cream and homemade cakes and relax.
