Shalford Park Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

Cycle path at the side of the main road from Guildford-Shalford - great for families and for staying off the main road.

View from Newlands Corner

Highlight • Rest Area

I would certainly not recommend riding any of the roads up to Newlands Corner (especially the A25 from Dorking / Shere) during the evening rush hour. It is a very busy road and cars/vans here have very, very little patience and consideration for cyclists slogging up the hill and overtake often with inches to spare in their rush to get home. Not a problem going downhill because of the difference in speed. Worst place I've found around Guildford for evening rush hour drivers. Even the A3 is better (because it is usually very slow by then).

The Optothedron is an eye-catching and pleasant surprise to stumble across as you make your way along this woodland trail deep in the Surrey Hills AONB.

The sculpture was created by Will Nash and its purpose was both a sculpted seat for passers-by to enjoy the inspiring view over the Surrey Hills, and a home for insects too.

View of Shere

Highlight (Segment) • Settlement

Shere is a beautiful village that is well worth a stop on your rides if you are connecting up Peaslake and the north downs.

Little Kings Wood

Highlight • Forest

Set on the North Downs ridgeway in Surrey, Little Kings Wood is a patch of woodland owned and managed by The National Trust.

You'll pass through Little Kings Wood if walking, cycling or riding the North Downs Way. It is also surrounded by lovely lanes for road cycling which form part of the Surrey Cycleway.

Where a break in the trees affords a view, you'll be treated to an expansive vista across to the Surrey Hills in the south and some beautiful rural agricultural landscape between, or even to the skyscrapers of London from the north edge of the woodland.

Rolling pathway through the Surrey Hills, a great way to get between climbs, and on a piece of relative flat, which can be hard to come by in these parts.

Holmbury Hill Road

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Very pretty section of road on the route between Holmbury St Mary and Ewhurst or Peaslake. Has a short climb at each end but the rest of the road follows the contours around the hillside so is more undulating than climbing
