Stora Torget is the oldest and most central square in Linköping. The square is cut through by Storgatan, which is car-free but served by buses. The square is sometimes unofficially called Filbytertorget. In the middle of the square and along the Storgatan stands Carl Milles Folkungabrunnen, a fountain made of diabase with a Folke Filbyter made of patinated bronze. It was inaugurated on December 12, 1927. It was paid for by Leonard and Ida Westman's Fund for Linköping's Decoration of Works of Art, which was founded in 1911 by their son Henric Westman, who is one of the city's main donors.
