The Roaches Loop

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A great loop that takes in the moorland around The Roaches. Always really quiet, very exposed so best to be ridden when the wind isn't too strong.

Stanley Arms to Crag Inn Descent

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

This really could be one of the greatest stretches of road to cycle on in the UK. A perfectly consistent downward sloping lane, averaging out at just under 2% - ideal for freewheeling. Starting at The Stanley Arms and extending beyond the Crag Inn further down the valley, this quiet road weaves in and out of the adjacent brook, which provides a tranquil trickling sound the whole way down. All this while enjoying views of the beautiful Peaks countryside - truly majestic.

Ridgegate Reservoir

Lake

51.3 km

Four reservoirs to see here, two of which provide drinking water to Macclesfield. There are mainly pine trees in the forest. Cheshire's two highest points overshadow the forest so keep scanning the horizon for Shining Tor and the peak of Shutlingsloe, which is often called the 'Cheshire Matterhorn' thanks to its Toblerone-esque shape.
