Ruins of Johannesthal (Janový Hutě)

JOHANNESTHAL (Janový Hutě) was a district of BUCHERS (Pohoří na Šumavě).
As harmonious as the square appears, it is one of the many disappeared places in the border area.
When I stand in such places, melancholy thoughts come to mind - So much destruction combined with suffering - What have the people here been through?:
Reclamation including the construction of housing and utility rooms - drudgery for daily bread - war - expulsion - blowing up and razing the whole place...!!!

I tried to capture what was left and can now be seen in photos.
At the upper narrow area of the meadow near the large tree, a pot shows the way to the remains of the house behind it at the edge of the forest.

The road is now (July 2023) roughly graveled - but will be ready again soon.

Cycle route 34 goes from "Vyšší Brod" (Hohenfurth) in the west via "Dolní Dvořiště" (Unterhaid) past here to "Nové Hrady" (Gratzen) to "České Velenice" (Gmünd train station) in the east.
