Gut Welpe Restaurant & Cafe

Historically, the Welpe estate has belonged to the Füchtel estate since 1773. It was first mentioned in a document in 1252 as "Füchtelmannstelle". In 1773, Caspar Franz von Elmendorff bought the "Gut Welpe" from the von Droste zu Hülshoff family. Since then it has been managed together with Gut Füchtel.

The von Merveldt family has owned the Füchtel and Welpe estates since 1908 and is the fourth generation to manage them to this day.

Today Gut Welpe consists only of a few historic buildings, today's clubhouse of the Vechta Golf Club, the former barn that now houses the Gut Welpe guest house, the old water mill and the old manor house from 1645.

The Heyng family ran the “Holla die Waldfee” restaurant on the estate for almost 10 years. Now it's time for a change. True to the motto "back to the roots", the name "Gut Puppy" is intended to commemorate the history of the property. As a symbol of belonging, we use the coat of arms of Count von Merveldt in our logo.
