Monesi di Triora

Highlight • Settlement

Monesi is a fraction of the municipality of Triora located in Val Tanaro.
This town was born as a ski resort and had its moment of greatest activity around the 1950s, when it was the winter holiday resort of many families from western Liguria and the province of Cuneo. Over time, all the ski lifts and almost all the accommodation facilities closed. After the 2016 flood, only one hotel-refuge remained open and a bar-restaurant in the summer.

La Terza Mountain Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Rifugio La Terza was built inside the former chairlift station that, between the 1950s and 1980s, carried entire generations of Ligurian, French, and Piedmontese skiers from Monesi to the summit of Monte Saccarello.
Not far from the highest point in Liguria, this refuge includes a bar-restaurant, rooms, and independent apartments with bathrooms and kitchens.
The managers also organize various outdoor activities.
