The company was founded in 1908 as "Chemische Fabrik Budenheim Utz und Hensel" and initially dealt with the production of tartaric salts from raw tartar. After the First World War, the company management changed the company strategy and from then on focused on the production of phosphate as a baking powder raising agent for baked goods. The Chemische Fabrik Budenheim has been part of the Oetker Group since 1923. Following the split of the Oetker Group in November 2021, the company has since belonged to the newly founded Geschwister Oetker Group.
Products include aluminum phosphates, ammonium phosphates, barium phosphates, boron phosphates, calcium phosphates, carbamide phosphates, iron phosphates, potassium phosphates, copper phosphates, lithium phosphates, magnesium phosphates, manganese phosphates, sodium phosphates, phosphonates, phosphoric acid and zinc phosphates.
In 2012, around 680 people were employed at the Budenheim site and around 1,000 products totaling around 230,000 tonnes were manufactured.
