July 8, 2023,Von Kestert nach Kamp-Bornhofen – Rheinsteig
After the first 4 stages on the Rheinsteig with my daughter, I started alone in Kestert today in the rain. Later it got very warm again. Highlights today were spectacular views and a visit to Liebenstein Castle. Tomorrow we're heading back home.

On the approach to the Rheinsteig trail from Kamp-Bornhofen, I chose the more difficult option. I climbed a distance of 210 meters in elevation.

When I reached the top, I was completely exhausted. Perhaps that was also the reason why I misinterpreted the Rheinsteig signs and initially went the wrong way, forcing me to take a detour of about 3.5 …

Today we finally went back to the Rheinsteig. The 13th stage showed itself in 🍁colors in nice weather.

After 16 and 18 it was time to do Rheinsteig 13 today 😉😉😉 but I did it backwards 😂😂😂 I started straight from my accommodation and then took the train back to the starting point. But a climb 🪜 is still a climb no matter which direction you come from. 🔛 It was a great tour that went from moderately …

This morning we set off early and took public transport to Kamp-Bornhofen. From the train station in Kamp-Bornhofen, the hike began with a steep climb to the Rosenlay. However, the challenging climb was rewarded with a magnificent view. From here, the Rheinsteig trail gently meandered its way up the ridge. Beautiful views presented themselves time and again before the descent …

Beautiful, varied tour with great views of the Rhine 😎🥾

Showing Translation

Once again, we were out hiking the Rheinsteig in perfect hiking weather. The tour led from Kamp-Bornhofen to Kestert. Once again, the climb was steep and rapid. Via Rosenlay and Wilhemshöhe, we reached the "Hostile Brothers," Sterrenberg Castle, and Liebenstein Castle.

Many narrow paths over hilltops alternated with wide forest and farm tracks.

Showing Translation

Almost a year after arriving in Kestert (leg 8), we continued the "hike" with the aim to reach Bonn (or at least Koblenz).
We left home in light rain, but we were rewarded with sunshine when we arrived in Kestert.
A fairly easy hike, but really nice. The autumn has not really started to colour the nature, but it will …
