Highlight • River

The river Wey has served as a vital artery for Surrey for hundreds of years, powering mills and transporting goods. Today, this tributary of the Thames is home to diverse wildlife and biodiversity. Its waters are popular with kayakers, hikers and cyclists. The river has a total catchment ara of 350 sq mi (904 sq km), spreading across Surrey and into Hampshire and West Sussex.

St Mary and All Saints Church, Dunsfold

Highlight • Historical Site

In my personal experience, we encounter a unique dual patronage at this ancient and venerable church. Firstly, it is dedicated to the Mother of God, or MARY, but the parish community has not only entrusted itself to her personal intercession before God's throne, but has also made a far-reaching addition: By adding the two short words "All Saints" to the Marian patronage, the people of this parish have also entrusted themselves to the comprehensive protection of the complete heaven of saints.

Dunsfold Village Post Office

Highlight • Settlement

Quite village where the village green and a small stream run right through the middle. Small but well stocked village Post Office which is perfect for those mid ride treats.

Highlight • Cafe

Very friendly, a little tight for seating big groups in the winter but in the summer you can sprawl out on the green opposite.

Hambledon Common

Highlight • Forest

Twenty years ago, Hambledon Common lay overgrown and forgotten before being pruned back to its former glory. The common's landscape was transformed centuries ago through the extraction of sand which was used in building and glassmaking. Archaeologists discovered flint tools on the site dating back to Neolithic and Mesolithic eras.

Until the start of the 20th century, the common was used to graze cattle amongst the heather. Today, you can find three heather flower varieties between July and September, as well as woodlark birds and rare sand lizards.
