The drive up to Monte Erice (and down) is spectacular with its serpentines and incredible views (unfortunately the cable car is not currently in operation). The old buildings and alleys of Erice reveal the long history of this place, which stretches back to ancient times. The mountain is even said to have been inhabited in prehistoric times.
