Solitude–Ludwigsburg Survey Base Point

On May 25, 1818, King Wilhelm I ordered the first land survey in the Kingdom of Württemberg by decree to the Ministry of Finance. The determined base length of 40,118.718 Parisian feet (1 Parisian foot = 0.32484 meters) was compared with the Bavarian baseline near Munich. The difference was only 0.182 Paris feet (0.059 m).
