Stob Coire Sgriodain Summit

Highlight • Natural Monument

Stob Coire Sgriodain is a 3,212-foot (979 m) Munro in the Scottish Highlands. I climbed it in July 2019 as part of a circuit that included its neighbour, Chno Dearg.

On a good weather day, enjoy views over to Stob a' Choire Mheadhoin, on the other side of Loch Treig.

Chno Dearg Summit

Highlight • Summit

Chno Dearg is a 3,432-foot (1,046 m) Munro in the Scottish Highlands. It can be climbed from a small car park in Fersit at the northernmost tip of Loch Treig. The ascent of Chno Dearg in the rain felt lacklustre and featureless, we walked over grassy wet ground before reaching the boulder filled upper reaches.

View of the Easain Munros from Fersit

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

On the approach to Fersit you may be able to see the Easain Munros in the distance, located beside Loch Treig (which is hidden from here, and remains so until you are right beside the dam a few kilometres along the valley). Fersit is located at the end of a road, and is a small hamlet with a train station.

Fersit Millstone of Faith

Highlight • Monument

Just beyond the northern tip of Loch Treig, the hamlet of Fersit is a good base for a number of Munros. It is within easy walking distance of Tulloch Station on the West Highland Line and you can seek accommodation at Fersit Lodge.

To the south rises the Munro of Stob Coire Sgrodain, which boasts excellent views of the Grey Corries. You can continue to tick them off with a traverse of Chno Dearg and Beinn na Lap and return via the loch.

On the western side of the loch are the fantastic duo of Stob a’ Choire Mheadhoin and Stob Corie Easain, often known collectively as ‘the Easains’.
