Track relocation in the run-up to the World Ski Championships
In the run-up to the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in 2001, the railway line in St. Anton am Arlberg was relocated from the town center to the south and expanded to double track. The new station was built south of the Rosanna opposite the town center between the portal of the new Wolfsgruben tunnel and the new east portal of the extended Arlberg tunnel. around 145 million euros (around two billion schillings) were invested in the project. The old route was abandoned and a park was created around the old station. On September 11, 2000, the new railway line and the station were put into operation. On September 9th and 10th, 2000, a big festival was celebrated to mark the laying of the railway under the title "St. Anton am Arlberg without barriers".

The parish church of Pettneu, with its Gothic pointed tower, rises beautifully into the sky above the Stanzer Valley.
The church is surrounded by a cemetery.
The interior mainly shows baroque elements, very beautiful!
I found the church open.

Parish Church of St. Anton am Arlberg

Highlight • Religious Site

Parish Church of St. Anton am Arlberg (also called Mariahilf)
The parish church of St. Anton am Arlberg was built in honor of the Blessed Virgin and Saint Anthony of Padua and consecrated on September 11, 1698.
Master builder Keil from Umhausen was responsible for the construction. The first major renovation took place in 1840 and the church received two large paintings by the Munich artist Johann Kasper. During the construction of the Arlberg Railway (1880-1884), the building contractors were generous towards the church: the church received a new bell consisting of four bells. Since the old church was much too small, the church was enlarged in 1932, which was carried out according to the plans of the architect Clemens Holzmeister. After six months of construction, the church was inaugurated.
