Arden Great Moor

I've never seen anyone on this 5.25 mile loop which is just off the Cleveland Way, but it is well worth including it in your route, fabulous views all round, not many gradients and an easy track to follow. Most of it does not follow a public footpath / bridleway, but it is all within open access boundaries. Essentially a flat plateau with most of the loop following the ridgeline, I've done a couple of circuits in the winter, and I will be back to check the views through the seasons.

View of White Gill Head

Highlight • Natural Monument

A fabulously dramatic place that is worth stopping for on what is known as Hambleton Street, a part of the Cleveland Way long-distance trail.

Classic Cleveland Way, great quality track for walking or cycling, fabulous views over Kepwick Moor to the west. Continue north and turn west to cross Black Hambleton and then down to the car park at Square Corner, or follow the peaceful, less-trodden, circular route around the ridgeline of Arden Great Moor for 360 degree views over this area of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Whitestone Scar on Kepwick Moor

Highlight • Viewpoint

Classic and well-trodden part of the Cleveland Way, just on the west side of Arden Great Moor with very long views to Hambleton in the west.

There is a stone erected here to mark the site and ruins of Limekiln House Inn (late 19th century), now only bumps on the ground betray what used to be here). Also, there are fantastic views from here of the Vale of Mowbray to the west.
