At the beginning of the 19th century, Johann Georg Neher received rights to use the water power at the Rhine Falls, which remained in his family for a long time. The power plant supplied the Swiss wagon factory and, from 1889, the first European aluminum plant of the Aluminum Industry Share Company with energy. In 1947 the name was changed to Rheinkraft Neuhausen AG.
