ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Tower is Lerooy's first permanent sculpture in public space and consists of 49 bronze heads that all look straight out to sea. It refers to today's society that is built up from various elements that are more valuable together than separately. A society in which we are dependent on each other, we listen to each other and make compromises. Just as a child stacks blocks to make a tower, Lerooy stacks heads to create something meaningful.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Thomas Lerooy works on a coherent oeuvre of drawings, bronze sculptures and paintings. In 2015, Lerooy was the first living artist to have a solo exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris. Lerooy's works are included in the collections of important international museums and institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Belfius Art Collection in Brussels.
