Beautiful bridge constructions over the Dijle and the Nete. The bridges are a very important link in the region for commuting and recreation.
Bridges connect people and landscapes. Know that it is quite busy here on weekends.

Once again from Mechelen along the Dyle and Rupel to Schelle. Took the ferry there to start the way back to Mechelen. Small picnic before the ferry. Clean table and benches to eat your sandwiches. During the return trip we went to a terrace in Klein Willebroek.
It was a wonderful bike tour. Highly recommended.

Beautiful bike tour along the rivers of Mechelen via Rumst, Boom, Schelle and back to a terrace on the Mechelen Grote Markt 😃
Very nice to do. Lots of nature. Bird watchers will get their money's worth. History is also discussed. The old brickworks in Boom. A memorial site of the WWII liberation.
In short, very relaxed and interesting.

Rivierenland - Cycling along the banks of the Rupel and Dijle.

The first cycling tour of 2026 takes us through Rivierenland, along the banks of the Rupel and Dijle rivers. We depart from Boom and follow the Rupel upstream towards the iconic 3Ri4en area. The Blue Bridges form an important intersection here where cyclists, walkers, and water meet.
