Val Roseg

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

What a picturesque, lonely side valley! The rushing Rosegbach accompanies you all the time. And a little further back in the valley you can see the wonderful glacier panorama of the Bernina massif. A real feast for the eyes!

Cascada da Bernina waterfall trail
The Cascada da Bernina waterfall trail
The waterfall trail is a short but extremely worthwhile adventure hike along the Cascada da Bernina. In just 600 meters, it overcomes a total of 85 meters in altitude. This makes the nature all the more magnificent along the Ova da Bernina mountain stream, which rushes down into the valley over several cascades. The entrance is at the Morteratsch RhB station in the direction of the car park.
From three viewing platforms you can watch the torrent make its way through the pristine mountain forest. Sometimes it falls foaming over rocks, sometimes it builds up to form natural whirlpools. On the first viewing platform, a railway viaduct on the Bernina line is at the center. On the other two platforms you can learn exciting things about hydropower and wine transport.

Morteratsch Glacier Trail

Hikers and mountain bikers share the path to the glacier, the rapid decline of which is an impressive and frightening illustration of global warming

Pontresina

Highlight • Settlement

Wildly romantic, sunny and sheltered from the wind at 1,800 meters, surrounded by the impressive Bernina massif, the historically grown mountain village enchants upon arrival: the charm of traditional Engadine houses, dignified luxury and a breathtaking mountain world that, in addition to tranquility, offers fine mountain, wellness and Have culinary delights ready. Hiking and biking along striking glacier trains and massifs, romantic mountain lakes, aromatic alpine meadows and forests on perfectly maintained and designated routes.

Climb the 4,049-meter-high Piz Bernina with pimples and crampons. If you prefer to watch the local climbing specialists, the ibex, with a little luck you can do this from Alp Languard.

Because relaxation is part of the excitement, the Bellavita adventure pool and spa, as well as excellent Swiss pine and gourmet restaurants, pamper you. Then a fun concert evening in the Pontresina Congress and Culture Center and the day is perfect. For an unforgettable time and homesickness that only arises at home.

September 24, 2021,RoseggTal und Stazersee
an easy tour, unfortunately few trails, some paths closed for MTB. Horse-drawn carriages also run into the Roseggtal, so you have to wait for a suitable place to overtake. Stazersee beautiful. Here, too, beautiful paths / trails are withheld from hikers!
Wonderful tour with optical delicacies!

Today's round trip to the Rosegtal from Camping Morteratsch and back to the Morteratsch Alpine Cheese Dairy

Beautiful tour into the Val Rosegg. It is impressive how the glacier visibly gets smaller from year to year. Afterwards we went to the Morteratsch cheese dairy. Then down to Muragl and up by train. Small aperitif accompanied by alphorn music.

2 sensationally beautiful valleys, each with an impressive view of the glacier 🤩🌞😀
The only disadvantage is that these valleys are also tourist magnets and therefore you can expect a lot of people (and carriages).
Nice weather, little wind, cool to pleasant 5-12°C.

In 🇮🇹 it's getting too warm for me, so I drove again in the heights of the 🇨🇭. Immediately to the Bernina group in Val Roseg and then to the Morteratsch glacier in the side valley. Look how all the ice melts away when you stand in such a deep hollow that used to be a glacier!!! Had probably also …

It was our second day, and we were greeted with sunshine – and, as has almost become tradition, we headed back to Val Roseg. But this time, we made a detour to Val Morteratsch first.

We started in St. Moritz, through the tranquil Stazerwald forest – simply gorgeous in the early morning – and then on to Pontresina. From there, …
