Built in 1893 as a private facility to supply the Werdmühle with electricity, the Höngg power plant came into the possession of the City of Zurich in 1973. With an extensive renovation, ewz modernized the facility in 1987 and doubled electricity production. An impressive multimedia show at the Höngg power plant today demonstrates how electricity production and distribution work.
